Possibly a picture of Rani Padmini. Rani Padmini was queen of Chittor (also called Chittorgarh). Famed for her beauty, the conquering armies of Alauddin Khilji (of the incomplete Alai Minar and Alai Darwaza fame in Delhi) agreed to dispense with the siege of Chittor if Khilji was allowed to meet Rani Padmini. After much deliberation, Ratan Singh, Padmini's husband, agreed to let Khilji get a glimpse of Padmini through a complex arrangement of mirrors. He did get a brief glimpse, and that was enough to convince him that a glimpse simply wouldn't do. He waged war against Chittor, mostly to possess what he considered its prize jewel, Rani Padmini. After a volley of battles, Chittor fell. The men of Chittor perished in battle, and Rani Padmini and several womenfolk immolated themselves in a Rajput ritual called jauhar.
